Small-Scale Variability in Bacterial Community Structure in Different Soil Types

چکیده

Microbial spatial distribution has mostly been studied at field to global scales (i.e., ecosystem scales). However, the organization small centimeter millimeter scales), which can help improve our understanding of impacts communities structure on microbial functioning, received comparatively little attention. Previous work shown that small-scale exists in soil communities, but these studies have not compared soils from geographically distant locations, nor they utilized community ecology approaches, such as core and satellite hypothesis and/or abundance-occupancy relationships, often used macro-ecology, description communities. In present work, we focused bacterial diversity 16S rRNA gene sequencing) occurring micro-samples a variety locations with different pedo-climatic histories semi-arid, alpine, temperate climates) physicochemical properties. The forms ecological relationships occupancy-frequency abundance-occupancy) taxa distributions habitat generalists specialists) were investigated. results showed composition differed four scale. Moreover, one presented mode distribution, whereas three others bimodal distributions. Interestingly, numerous among 8 OTUs common sites. These confirm analyses are necessary understand consequent functional processes taking place soils, affecting thus functioning.

Effect of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles on Microbial Community Structure and Function in Two Different Soil Types

Increased availability of nanoparticle-based products will, inevitably, expose the environment to these materials. Engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) may thus find their way into the soil environment via wastewater, dumpsters and other anthropogenic sources; metallic oxide nanoparticles comprise one group of ENPs that could potentially be hazardous for the environment. Because the soil bacterial c...

Small-scale spatial variability of selected soil biological properties

A strategy for sampling soil from intact monolith lysimeters was established based on measurements of spatial heterogeneity within the lysimeter area. This was part of an ongoing study to determine relationships between soil microbial diversity and nutrient loss by leaching. The sampling protocol had to allow for collection of soil on a regular basis (as opposed to destructive sampling) and ens...

Fertilization Shapes Bacterial Community Structure by Alteration of Soil pH

Application of chemical fertilizer or manure can affect soil microorganisms directly by supplying nutrients and indirectly by altering soil pH. However, it remains uncertain which effect mostly shapes microbial community structure. We determined soil bacterial diversity and community structure by 454 pyrosequencing the V1-V3 regions of 16S rRNA genes after 7-years (2007-2014) of applying chemic...

Bacterial community structure and soil properties of a subarctic tundra soil in Council, Alaska

The subarctic region is highly responsive and vulnerable to climate change. Understanding the structure of subarctic soil microbial communities is essential for predicting the response of the subarctic soil environment to climate change. To determine the composition of the bacterial community and its relationship with soil properties, we investigated the bacterial community structure and proper...

Pyrosequencing-based assessment of soil pH as a predictor of soil bacterial community structure at the continental scale.

Soils harbor enormously diverse bacterial populations, and soil bacterial communities can vary greatly in composition across space. However, our understanding of the specific changes in soil bacterial community structure that occur across larger spatial scales is limited because most previous work has focused on either surveying a relatively small number of soils in detail or analyzing a larger...
